Yatara Property Maintenance
Adelaide-based property maintenance and handyman services
Website, quoting, and a back office
Daniel does property maintenance across Adelaide. Gutters, fences, painting, the jobs landlords call about on a Sunday. He was quoting the way most trades do: call back, drive out, type it up after hours from a spreadsheet.
The brief
An enquiry arrives. Someone calls back to work out what is actually needed. Someone often drives out to look. Then — usually after hours — someone sits down and types the quote from a spreadsheet.
It's unpaid work, done tired, and it gets worse the more the business grows. Meanwhile his customer waits days for a price she wanted the same afternoon, and the first tradie to respond usually wins the job.
He didn't need a brochure site. He needed the website to do the quoting.
What we built
Five pages — Home, Services, Gallery, About, Contact — built around his own job photography and reviews, plus Privacy and Terms.
His customer picks from 227 priced services, adds quantities and notes, and gets an itemised, GST-inclusive quote emailed in seconds. No account and no password: a name and an email at the end.
The quoting charges the way he actually charges: hourly labour plus materials on time-based work, a fixed price where one applies, a minimum charge so small jobs still clear a worthwhile figure. Anything that truly needs eyes on it is marked as worked out on site, never an invented number.
His rates never appear on the public site, so a competitor cannot scrape them. Every quote is frozen the moment it is issued — raising a rate next month does not rewrite a quote sent last month.
Quotes and enquiries land in one place, each tracked from new through to accepted or declined. He edits his own prices in his price list — no developer, no invoice.
The results
About 40 minutes saved per quote. At 15 quotes a week that is roughly 10 hours back every week — over 500 hours a year, recovered from evenings and admin.
A quote that used to take about 50 minutes end to end — intake call, scoping, pricing, typing, sending, chasing, filing — now takes about 10 minutes of his attention, and most of that is reviewing work his customer has already scoped herself.
- Quotes arrive in seconds, not days. Response speed is one of the strongest predictors of winning trade work.
- Consistent pricing on every job — same rates, same minimums, no undercharging because a quote got written at 10pm.
- Nothing gets lost. Every enquiry has a status and an owner.
- A quote he can defend. Every issued price is stored with the exact settings that produced it, so a question six months later has an answer on the record.
